One of the most popular questions related to the operation of water purification filters is the issue of product replacement. How often should this be done? What determines the rate of filter clogging? And is it possible, for example, visually, to determine how well the device works. Let's start here, perhaps, with recommendations common to all types of filters. First, to find out the frequency of changing filtration cassettes, see the instructions for the product. As a rule, the recommended shift period is indicated there. So, for filter jugs it will be 1-3 months, and for reverse osmosis systems and filters "for washing" somewhere 3-5 years. The second criterion that must be taken into account is the number of people who live in the apartment and use the water. That is, you need to understand that if the filter is used by two people, then the water consumption will be one, and if 4-5 people, then it will be completely different! Hence, as a rule, the plug is in the recommendation, that is, once a month you need to change the filter jug in a family where there are 4-5 people (since the water consumption will be high), and once every three months you can change the cassette or cartridge where there are 1-2 people in the family. Moving on - water quality. Look, if you have, by definition, very bad water - hard, with a lot of impurities, with a bad smell, and so on, then the filter will become dirty and clogged faster than with more or less good water quality. In general, the most correct thing here would be to initially analyze the water, establish its quality and find out which purification system is better to install specifically in your case. And now, during the installation of filters and systems, installers will tell you what period of replacement of cartridges or membranes is better for you to set. At the same time, please note that the filter (when it comes to a flow-through filter for risers with hot and cold water) is best installed where it will be easy to change later. And one more thing - immediately clarify whether you can change the filter yourself or whether you will need to invite specialists for this purpose.
It is worth noting that not all people are responsible for replacing filters in water treatment systems. Perhaps they are of the opinion that if the filter is on, then there is nothing to worry about! But this is far from the case! Over time, harmful particles, stones and other debris begin to accumulate on the membrane, it becomes more and more, and the membrane itself becomes clogged, water begins to flow more slowly, the quality of its purification slows down. In addition, the accumulated harmful particles become a favorable breeding ground for bacteria, which means that the filter not only stops purifying the water, it itself becomes potentially dangerous, and the water from it becomes unfit for drinking!
We have already said that each manufacturer and type of filters for water purification has its own recommended terms of operation and replacement of cartridges. But even if the instructions say that the filter can be changed once a year, but you notice a deterioration in the quality of the filtered water, then it is better to replace the cartridge.
