Why do you need a pump
Membrane performance is measured in GPD (Gallons Per Day). Most household membranes measuring 11.9x1.8" have a capacity of 50 GPD, which is equal to 189 liters per day (1 Gallon = 3.785l). Membranes of 75 and 100 GPD are also widely used.
The capacity is measured under normal conditions:
water temperature = 25⁰С,
water pressure = 80 psi (5.5 bar),
salt content TDS = 200 ppm (approximately 200 mg/liter)
A decrease in pressure and temperature, as well as an increase in TDS, reduce the capacity of the membrane. For example, at a temperature of 10⁰С, the capacity of the membrane decreases by 1.71 times. And when the pressure decreases to 1 bar, the capacity drops by 5 times. Therefore, if you draw 2-3 liters of water in the morning and the tank is empty, install a pressure boosting pump.
