Maya Indians used zeolite, which was brought from other cities located many kilometers away. Also, the Maya filter consisted of quartz. The combination of zeolite and quartz passed well and filtered water. It should be said that these two materials are still used as the basis for water filtration.
According to scientists, the Maya used a system of sedimentation tanks through which water flowed into different tanks for purification.
